Things to know…
First of all, thank you for considering a commission from me! Over the years I have learned what motivates me, what I like and don’t like while creating new work and that if I am to create something for a client, that it’s something I would ultimately create for myself as well. With that in mind, I’ve come up with some guidelines for my clients, should they choose to move forward with a commission.
~ I work from reference photos, so while I’m open to ideas, ultimately I would like to choose the image I am going to recreate into a painting. Typically, we agree on an idea or subject, but I will come up with images to present to you, any of which I would be confident painting and you can decide which you’d like.
~ I create work that typically has a blank background, utilizing negative space in a manner to convey the importance of the image represented. I will maintain full artistic license of choosing this background colour, as it is important to the integrity of the final look.
~ It is important to me that any commissions I should take on, will represent my unique style and blend into my body of work. I have to assume you are approaching me because you love my existing work and would like your own piece to begin a collection.
~If your commission is time sensitive, I may ask for a rush fee of 20% on top of the given fee.
~ I ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit made payable through PayPal, credit card, E-transfer or MobilePay before I begin the work and the remaining 50% upon completion, before I release it. The client is responsible for any shipping charges and I can provide quotes through the courier of your choice.
~If you are in Europe I do have to charge VAT on your painting which is non-negotiable.
